Easy on and off and our son doesn't mess around with the side velcro closures. The leather is very nice and soft, but sturdy. The soles are also rugged. I ordered a half size up and they are the exact same as the 1/2 size down we had. So in easy terms a size 10 is the same as a 9.5!!
